Digital Storytelling: How to Send a Letter

My digital story is a lesson geared toward elementary students on how to send a letter in the mail. When I was a young student, sending and receiving letters in the mail was very exciting. However, there are very strict rules on how to address an envelope in order to ensure that it reaches its destination. The video touches on the necessary materials, how to address an envelope, who delivers the letters, and where you can mail your letter at. This lesson would be great for a second or third grade class. A good way to incorporate this lesson into the classroom would be through the use of pen pals. Students will love writing to another student their own age in a different country. They will see the process it takes for a letter to start in one place and end in another. In a world where the internet and email are dominating our modes of communication, children will find mailing a letter and getting one in return to be an exciting and fun concept.
